Week of excursions along Sentiero della Pace
(The Peace Trail)

Even in the Dolomites during the First World War the battle raged ruthlessly; Italian and Austrian soldiers spilt their blood over absurd causes of territory and superiority.
Even to this day, barbed wire, well preserved gun emplacements and human bones take us back to that madness.
In the meantime many emplacements on the front line have been restored and made accessible.
In devising the programme for this week we have tried to combine the fascinating mountains with the cruelty of the past and offering excursions of a certain level.
This tour takes on the centre stage of the Dolomites front and should encourage us to reflect. We will discover many important things with regards to history, geology, fauna and flora, but above all we shall take back home the beauty and stateliness of the mountains.
The Dolomites front has thus become The Peace Trail (Via della Pace).
If all the world's front lines could become peace trails we would have thousands of kilometres of excursions.
